In case you didn’t already know, late May saw the launch of Royal Caribbean International’s newest addition to their fleet: Harmony of the Seas. Not only is she touted as their greatest ship yet, she also claims the title of Largest Cruise Ship In The World.
Now, I could bore you with the stats – tonnage, footage, knots etc. – but all you need to know is that she has a 100-foot tall, 10-storey slide. The slide, which has been aptly named Ultimate Abyss, is the tallest slide at sea and promises to be the most thrilling adventure to be had on the ocean.
Anyway, back to the point. A couple of us from Social and Content and SEO were lucky enough to nab a spot onboard Harmony of the Seas for its pre-inaugural sailing. Joining journalists, bloggers, vloggers, competition winners and a small number of guests, we set sail for a two-day tour of the English Channel, capturing content for the Royal Caribbean blog and social channels.
For some of us, this was our first time on a cruise ship, and we were blown away. Its size meant you could easily forget you were on a ship at all, while the activities, including a surf simulator, an ice rink and a rock climbing wall, could keep you busy for days. Add to that the many food options and the countless swimming pools, and it’s easy to see why Royal Caribbean is on to an indisputable winner.
So where next for Royal Caribbean? How can they outdo something so extraordinary? You’ll just have to wait and see.
