Liquidising our social selves

According to a recent study by PEW, 6 in 10 users report taking a ‘Facebook Vacation’. Similar to our study, Living with Future Britain, we also saw a retreat from long-standing social media networks like Facebook to short-term ‘here and now’ apps such as SnapChat. We believe this to be because the younger audience (Generation Rent) want a more liquid self; opposing the pressures of presenting themselves as “authentic” and “real” which is forcing them to catalogue evidence as this one, true, unchanging self.
